SUKKUR: World Physical Therapy Day’ was celebrated today on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur to mark the unity and team spirit of the global physiotherapy community. The event was organized by the Department of Linguistics & Human Sciences in order to raise awareness about the crucial contribution physiotherapists’ profession makes to keeping people well, mobile and independent.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the student talk on ‘History of Physical Therapy’. Mir Arif Talpur, Assistant Prof. DPT, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on ‘Long Covid & Rehabilitation’. He focused on the role of physiotherapy on Long Covid symptoms which may include weakness, general fatigue & memory problems. Furthermore, he signified the importance of Physiotherapy that it is key to recovery from COVID-19.
Dr. Suhail Ahmed Sarhandi, the chairperson Department of Linguistics & Human Sciences, uttered a vote of thanks to the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, admin Staff, and Students and gave his final remarks that Physiotherapy is a very important profession when it comes to restoring body functions after usual damage. He, further, added that other professions and surgeons should recognize the role of physiotherapists after major or minor surgery or condition like COVID-19. He appreciated the well-maintained event and wished that a trend should be set to observe more events on awareness in the future. The program came to its end with a cake-cutting ceremony.
